This course will introduce you to a selected set of concepts in computing including creating web documents, simple programming, computer graphics, and spreadsheets. We will begin with a history of computer science. You will then create your own web pages using html and javascript. Images and simple animations for you web pages will be created using Photoshop and POV-Ray (a ray-tracing 3d graphics program).

Lab meets 3 times a week. The purpose of the lab is to provide you with an opportunity to work on the computer with the guidance and help of the instructor. Lab attendence is NOT optional. You must attend at least 2 labs per week.
Lab assignments will be handed out approximately once a week.
Each Friday in class, one or two students will give a brief (e.g. 5-10 minute) presentation/discussion of some recent news story about computer science.
Your grade in the course will be based on the following

In the context of this class, plagiarism is defined as representing someone else's work as your own. Cheating is defined as violating stated rules for an exam or an assignment. Plagiarized work will receive a grade of 0 as will any assignment in which cheating occurred Generally, you will be encouraged to cooperate on lab assignments.
