• The chapter on Variables and Loops
• The beginning few sections of the chapter on Functions.

Suggestion: Practice (among other things) problems on earlier exams

Understand the following:

• Window coordinate system and shapes
• Drawing primitive shapes - lines, ellipses, rectangles
• What is an algorithm.
• Execution sequence in Processing - in what order are commands executed. This includes the order when using functions, loops, and conditional statements.
• Color:
  • What is RGB vs HSB, grayscale?
  • Color on the Computer
  • Color in Processing and in reference: color, colorMode
  • For practice, look at the Color Choose when you run Processing.

• Variables

  • Data types - int, float, boolean, string, etc.
  • Declaring and naming a variable.
  • Setting the value of a variable with an assignment statement.
  • Arithmetic with variables.
  • Do the Variables Practice problems (pdf). You can check your answers by running the code in Processing.
  • Scope of variables, e.g. functions and scope.
