Lab 10: Creative Lab
CS145: Images and Imagination,

Due Date:
Final work should be submitted via WISE Monday, May 3, 2010 before the beginning of class.
Preliminary work will be collected/reviewed in class on Friday, April 23 and Wed April 28.
This will be a multi-week lab and will be worth 20 points, i.e. twice the number of points of the previous labs.
Goals
- Combine multiple programming techniques to make a creative piece (possibly with variations)
based on a theme of your choice
while applying basic design elements and principles. It could be an animation, still images, and/or interactive.
- Extra credit (5 pts) will be given to students who actually submit their work to one of the categories of the
SpaceTime Student Competition & Exhibition.

Activities:

Friday, April 23: Please turn in a typed paper copy of the following:
- A theme: It could be anything, but it is important to pick this ahead of time.
Examples might be: nature, connections, rituals, life cycle, time & place, change, identity, etc.
- A statement about the theme: Write down a sentence or two describing what you find compelling about this theme or what specific aspect of the theme that you want to explore.
- The algorithms/techniques: Identify the algorithmic techniques you plan on exploring and explain how these elements
relate to the theme. Will the work be an animation, still images, or interactive?
Also be prepared to discuss the above in class.

Wednesday, April 28: Be prepared to show to the class some preliminary explorations.

Monday, May 3: Note, this is the last day of class. Turn in the final work via wise and plan to show your work during class. In the comments secion of WISE,
paste in a copy of the written work turned in on Monday, April 19.
