Dual Boot

The computers in Ford 202 are dual boot. If you hold down the "options" key as the computer boots up, it will give you the option of booting in Windows. If you do nothing, it will boot up as a Mac. At the moment, it does not matter which you use. However, for some of the things we do later, you will need to be working on the PC side.

Mac vs PC Keyboard

If you are working in Ford 202 booted to Windows, there can be confusion with the Mac keyboard. To see the mappings of a PC keyboard on a Mac, go here.

For some things on Maya, you will need the middle mouse button. On the Mac, you need to make sure that it is set properly. Go to Apple->System_Preferences and click out Mouse to open up the settings window for the mouse. Make sure the middle mouse button (roller) is set to Button 3.

Shared Network Drive: cs-render

To access the shared network drive called cs-render, you need to do the following:

On Windows: click on the Computer icon on the desktop, and click on "Map Network Drive". Select any unused drive, and enter "\\groupfiles.willamette.edu\workspace\cs-render" in the Folder textbox. Click Finish.
On the Mac: Click on the icon "Connect to your Willamette Home Drive" and log in. Go to the menu at top and select "Go->Connect to Server...". Enter "smb://groupfiles.willamette.edu/workspace/cs-render".
