IDS 352: Keeping a Journal
IDS352: Advanced Computer Animation
Production,
Spring 2008
During the semester, you will be keeping a detailed journal of what you do. This is
important for several reasons. First, each person will be working on different things, so the
journal will be a record of what each person accomplishes. The contents of this journal will be an important tool for determining your final grade. Second, your journals will be an important
source of what resources you found useful and what topics were successfully studied.
What should you keep in the journal? Examples include:
- Any tutorials that were done. How would you rate them in terms of their usefulness.
- Any new techniques learned.
- Anything that was learned or tried.
- Any books or online materials that you found useful or not.
- What did you actually create in Maya. Include a small picture if possible.
- Any MEL scripts that were written.
- Any problems that were encountered, technical or otherwise.
- Thoughts on what you want to do for an animation. Technical or esthetic choices
that you make regarding the animation.
- Collaboration issues. Meeting notes.
This journal is best done in Word or similar text editor.
