Warm-up for after the third Linguistics exam

A: Good morning! How did you do on the morphology exam?

B: [...answers] How do you think you did?

A: [answers] Well, now we're going to learn about syntax! The last unit! Only two more weeks!

B: Hmm, let's see, I pretty sure that syntax is about sentence formation. It's also the study of the rules and categories that are the foundation of sentences. Categories are, for example, noun, verb, adjective, etc.

A: Hmm. At least those categories sound familiar! We'll do fine.

B: Good luck this week and next!

A: Thanks. Same to you.
