Slopefields for the TI-82/83

-- a program --

Given a differential equation, say y' = 3x-y, this program will make the TI-82/83 draw a slopefield for that differential equation.

The program is available in two formats.

  • A binary version that you can load directly into the graphlink program and download to your calculator. NOTE: If you have trouble downloading this, try holding the shift button on your keyboard when you click on the link.
  • A screen shot for those typing in by hand.

  • Directions for use:

1.We must translate the differential equation: In place of the function (y in this case), write Y (upper case), in place of y' write Y1,
and in place of the variable (x in this case), write X. So for the example y' = 3x-y we translate to: Y1=3X-Y.
2.Now press [Y=] and enter our differential equation from the last step on the first line:

3.Press [WINDOW] to select a suitable window or range.
4.Press [PRGM] and select the SLPFE program.  Press [ENTER]once to paste prgmSLPFIELD on your text screen; press [ENTER] again
         to run the program.
