日本語131 Verb Stem + に + Verb of Motion
This is a way to express the PURPOSE of the Motion, i.e., why somone goes/went somewhere
The Verb Stem = the pre-ます form; so if you know the ます form, you know the Stem!
Then you add + に+ a Motion Verb (like いきます、
きます、かえります)
= I go/come/return for the purpose of....
コーヒーを のみ+に+ いきます I will go to drink coffee
ピザを たべ+ に+いきます。I will go to eat pizza
えいがを み+ に+いきます。I will go to see a movie
としょかんへ べんきょうを し+に+ いきました。I went
