Exam 2 Topics
CS145: Images and Imagination, Fall 2010

This will be a closed book exam. Material will be drawn from assigned readings, class lectures, and labs. Exam 2 will focus mostly on material covered since the Exam 1. However, a few topics will be repeated and, keep in mind, that most of the material is cumulative, so you need to know the earlier material in order to do the new material.

• Functions:

  • modularizing code using functions (See Lab 6)
  • how to define and call a function
  • Scope of variables

• Response - how to check for an event and respond to it.

• 1D Arrays (See Lab 7 and Textbook, Chp 10)

  • Declaring
  • Initializing
  • Arrays and loops
  • Accessing
  • Working with the pixel array in Processing

• Transformations (See Lab 6 and Textbook, Chp 7, starting on p. 104)

  • Translation, scale, rotate
  • The Matrix stack
  • Controlling the pivot (fixed point)
  • Commutivity of transformations - when does the order matter and does it not.

• Repeated topics: for loops, if-else statements
