IDS 252: Topics for the Week of September 10, 2007

• Please join us on Tuesday, September 11, 2007, 7:30 PM in the Hatfield Room, Hatfield Library

  The five students awarded Keck Summer Research grants, Lacy Gillham, Tatyana Zadniprovskiy, Allison Martin, Lauren Lathrop and Susannah Kelly, will be presenting the fruits of their research and talking about their experiments and discoveries in exploring ways that technology can be used in the creation of art. From improvisational music and dance to DVD, from computer modelling to sculpture, from a jumble of building materials to digital video: you are cordially invited to see and hear how these talented and creative students have harnessed the power of technology to the demands of art.

• Wednesday: In lab, we will visit with musicians from MUSC-339 Digital Music Techniques (2:30-3:30).

  • During the first half hour of class, half of the class will visit the music lab while the other half will meet with musicians in our lab. The music lab is located in the writing center in Matthews, building 27 in the campus map.
  • During the second half hour, we will all swap places.
  • During the last half hour, we will begin to look at your compositions from Lab 2: Introduction to Modeling.
  • Please read email before Wednesday's class to make sure there are no changes to this plan
