If you are signed up for a Monday lab, your lab will not meet due to Labor Day. In order for you to not fall behind, please either attend one of the other lab sessions or come to the special session we are offering on Thursday Sept 8 at 11:30-12:30p in Ford 202. Tea and cookies will be available since this is also CS Tea time!

Chapter 1
- Writing and running Java programs.
- Java syntax for HelloPrinter:
  - Names: requirements and conventions.
  - What is a statement, method call, string, etc?
  - Programming Conventions (Style guide):
    - files names begin with uppercase
    - method (function) names being with lowercase
    - braces are on lines by themselves
    - matching braces a lined up vertically with each other
    - blocks of code are indented
- Solving problems:
  - Design first, code second
  - Solving Problem Principles:
    - Understand the problem
    - Break down into do-able chunks.
    - Develop the algorithms and express in pseudocode.
    - Code in Java.
Chapter 2
- Declaring and using variables
- User input using the Scanner class.
- Arithmetic
- Strings (if time)
