IDS 252: Topics for the Week of Mar 11, 2013

Warning: On Monday, Mar 11, we will vote on the stories - if absent, you will be assigned a story.

• Overview of Lab 8: Animation Production

  • Monday: Pitch stories, vote, and create groups
  • Wednesday: Pitch storyreels. Revise based on feedback. Look at reference material.
  • Friday: Work on character, prop, and scene modeling.
  • Next Monday:
    • Critiques - each group member will give summary of what they have accomplished.
    • Status reports - take 10 minutes of class time to submit status reports.

• What needs to be done this week:

  • Come up with a short one-word name for your group (to be used for your mail group) and a working title for your animation (you can change it later).
  • Exchange contact information with members of your group, e.g. phone numbers, email addresses, etc.
  • Go through the story and the storyboards to make sure everyone is in agreement. Modify the story or storyboards, as needed.
  • Create a group subfolder on cs-render in the folder \IDS252Sp13\Lab8. Within this, create a Storyreel folder and a Reference subfolder
  • Assign each person in the group the task of collecting reference material for some part of the story.
  • Create the storyreel.
  • Create a tasklist. Review gantt chart for the schedule.
  • Create shotlist. At this stage the most important part is identifying the Scene#, Shot#, and Description. The other columns will initially have only approximate data.
  • Setup a Maya project folder for group - discuss organization.
  • Begin Character, prop, and scene modeling
