IDS 252: Topics for the Week of October 15, 2007

• Mon: Go over stories from last week: Part 1 and Part 2

• Wed: Meet with musicians and go over emotion-sound lab: Lab 7: Conveying Emotion Using Gesture and Sound.

• Begin Lab 8: Final Project (specifically, see timeline)
  First deliverables are:
  Monday, Oct 22:
  • Present your story. 2-3 paragraphs (text only).
  • Discuss how to create storyboards. Click here for storyboard template (pdf) and begin to work on storyboards.
  • Homework/Lab:
    • Complete storyboards.
  • Wednesday, Oct 24:
    • Pitch your storyboards
    • Identify revisions.
    • Homework/Lab:
      • Revise storyboards
      • Scan storyboards and create storyreel.
      • Collect reference material

• Animation Production

  • Three states:
    1. Pre-production (Thinking Stage): writing, design, storyboards, animatics
    2. Production: (Doing Stage): modeling, animation, rendering, etc
    3. Post-Production (Assembling Stage): editing, final sound, title/credits
  • Look again at movie examples: Shrek, Ice age.
